Can we describe who we are without using the roles we play in society as the descriptors?

This is a response for Bryan's question. I think that we can be describe by the roles in our society because what we do in our darily lives is what we are. For example i am a college student, if somebody ask someone else who is laura? that person may say she is a college student. So i think that it is imposible not to describe a person with their roles in our society. Humans are describe of what they are in our role in society.

How do we know the truth about something?

We can know the truth about something by investigating or by proving that that is the true about something. For example how do we know that 1+1=2? well we will know this if we count 1+1 with our fingers and then we will find out that 1 plus 1 is 2. According Socrates each person is his or her own measure or standard of what is true or false. what seems true to me is true. What see true to you, though it contradicts what i believe, is true relative to you. in the same way, your pain is rue for you, and my pain is tryly painful for me. So everyone have or may have their own defenition about true or what can be or not be true.

Virtue is the moral excellent, goodness, and righteouness of a person. We are born with virtue but only through the years we know how to use it and when to use it. We can learn how to be a better person but we are born with virtue, that's why sometimes when we are doing something wrong we know that it is wrong because we have an inside voice that tells us that something it is not right. Everyone is born with virtue but some people dont pay attention to it and do that wrongs things for the wrong reasons.

Why are humans intimidated by the idea of predetermined fate?

Humans are intimidated by the idea of predetermined fate because some people are afraid of the future. We dont know what the future has for us and when we get scare about the things that we dont know that can happen. We dont know when are we going to die or when a special member of our family is going to die either, we are just afraid of finding something out that we may no like or that we may regret knowing it.





Can only God knows our real future?

God commands are:
Do not worship other gods
Do not make graven images of God
Do not take the name of God in vain
Observe the Sabbath rest
Honor your father and mother
Do not kill
Do no t commit adultery
Do not steal
Do not bear false witness against your neighbor
Do not cover your neighbor's property

if we follow all this commands we will be able to go to heaven. That Bible says that heaven is like paradise, a place that we will be happy forever.

Can i christian be a Christian withouth believing in God?

In our discussion today in class i understood that u can be a christian without believing in God. This kind of "christians" believe that there is a God but a all poweful God. I personally dont believe this theory, i think that if you are a chritian you should believe in God in all the ways. You have to be believe that there is a God that one day is going to come to earth and take his church to heaven, a God that is all powerful, a God that have all the power to do whatever he wants and whenever he can. A God that nothing in this earth can not happen with his permission, that is what i call a christian.

This is an interesting question. I think that many people have many diffrents answer to this question, and their answer have to be with their beliefs. I think that everyone in this world have the free will to choose whatever they want in life, it can be good or evil. God gave us the opportunity to choose becasue we are free in our decisions, and if we act in a bad way one day we will be judge by him in heaven. Eventhough God gave us free will i think that at the end you will end in the place that he wants you to be, it is just fate. I think that no matter what you do and when you do it you are going to end up whenever God wants you to be.

Where did we come from?

The Bible states that we come from the image of God, that we are create to follow God will and to follow his commanndments. But scientist thinks that we come from the theory of the evolution, where it first happen a big explotion in the universion and then the earth was made. I think that many people have their own theory about where did human come from? It all come from their beliefs and religion. For example i am a christian and i think that we were create by God, that all that happens in the world is because is God will and that we have and after life. But people that dont believe in God may think that we come from evolution and that there is not heaven. Personaly i think that we come from God image and that one day i will meet him in person if i follow God commandments.
